The Museum of crystal, lacquer miniatures and embroidery occupies the building of the Old Believers Trinity Church, near the Golden Gate. There you can see very interesting expositions dedicated to the history of glass crafts in Vladimir region from the 18th century to the present day, as well as the the Mstera masters of lacquer miniatures and embroidery.
The Trinity Church was built on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the Romanov dynasty in 1913. Before 1929, church services were held in it, but then it was closed. At first, it was occupied by warehouses, and then it was planned to demolish it. The church was saved from destruction by the decision to place there the collections of the museum of art crafts in 1974.
On the first floor there are stands with crystal and glass articles. The asymmetric stands are arranged and illuminated very beautifully. Apart from the articles of past centuries, there you can see the works of today masters of Vladimir region.
On the second floor you can see an exhibition dedicated to lacquer miniatures from Mstera, a small village in Vladimir region. Mstrera masters use the artistic style of icon painting and create miniatures by the subjects of Russian fairy tales. There you can see the examples of embroidery by the technology of the Mstera hemstitch, and the Vladimir stitch.
